CAMPUS

At Andover eCademy, students take self-paced online classes with certified teachers. Lessons are designed to move at the student’s own pace.

Our blended learning program provides the best of both worlds. Students can participate in traditional school learning activities while completing online coursework in an at-home setting. In addition to weekly schedule virtual help sessions, teachers offer in-house work days to allow students to receive face-to-face help when needed.

Virtual sessions provide opportunities for real-time discussion and dynamic interaction between teachers and students. Virtual sessions enable teachers to duplicate any learning environment, from lectures and debates to small group discussions, presentations, and office hours. By attending virtual sessions, students find the online content more approachable, accessible and easier to understand. As a result, students experience increased success in the course.2

Andover eCademy teachers use Zoom. Zoom is a cloud-based video conferencing tool that lets you host virtual one-on-one or team meetings easily. With powerful audio, video and collaboration features, this remote communication tool connects remote team members with each other  Since classes are all online, they are accessible to all students. Common uses of this software platform include:

  • One-to-one or one-to-many real-time online instruction.
  • Live online tutoring sessions as drop-in homework help or scheduled sessions.
  • Virtual office hours.
  • Creating recordings as asynchronous content and reusable learning objects.
  • Recording traditional classroom for later reference and review by instructors and students.

Students do not need to have an extensive knowledge of computers to be successful at Andover eCademy. Our trained technical staff has the ability to walk students through problems they may encounter using their new computer. We also provide a step-by-step guide to setting up each student's new computer as well as a technical "welcome packet."

Middle and high school courses are textbook-free. The online content embeds reading material within the lesson. Elementary students will receive a box of instructional materials. These materials are returned upon completion of the school year.

Students who reside in the Andover School District must attend at least one class at a brick-and-mortar Andover school to participate in band and sports. Students who live outside of the Andover district should check with their district of residence to find out the district’s policy regarding extracurricular activities.

Andover eCademy provides a positive and caring support system. The caring adult or "Learning Coach" helps facilitate the student's daily progress. The Andover eCademy teachers provide feedback and are available to answer questions for both the Learning Coach and the student.

Andover eCademy offers various field trips, family socials, school clubs and in-house learning days to promote student interaction.  Many of our students also establish friendships with other Andover eCademy students by joining clubs and teams in their areas.

Health and wellness courses are available to all students. Families are encouraged to participate in non-school physical fitness activities as well.

Andover eCademy students will follow the same graduation requirements as traditional Andover students. Students need 25 credits to graduate. A graduation ceremony will take place for graduating seniors and their families. Students will receive an Andover diploma.

Andover eCademy students are required to take district formative tests as well as state assessments at designated testing sites. Parents/guardians will be responsible for proctoring daily assignments and end-of-unit tests. All final high school course assessments will be proctored by an Andover eCademy staff member.
