My name is Rebecca Alstatt, and I'm one of the high school math teachers, along with being the gifted facilitator. This is my tenth year of teaching and my second year at eCademy. I grew up in Marion, KS, a little town about an hour north of Andover, and went to Washburn University for my undergraduate degree and Emporia University for my masters. Despite my choices of colleges, I am a die-hard K-State fan and bleed purple!
Before coming to eCademy, I taught 8th grade math for 5 years at Derby Middle School and was the gifted facilitator and gifted math teacher at Hadley Middle School for 2 years.
Outside of school, I spend time with my husband, 3-year-old daughter, Sydney, and a new little guy, Lawson, who was just born this August. We keep busy with trips to Manhattan for football games and running around after a crazy toddler! We also have two incredibly spoiled dogs--Morgan, a Boston Terrier, and Seamus, an Irish Terrier--who are pretty sure that they're humans, not animals.
Being part of the eCademy staff has been a wonderful experience! I love the diverse group of students I get to teach, and the blended setting that we have allows me to individualize my instruction and feedback for my students and get to know them in a way that I was never able to accomplish in brick and mortar schools. I love teaching at a school that is constantly working to do what's best for kids!
