This is my second year at Andover eAcademy and I am so very excited to be working in the online environment. Please allow me to share a little bit about myself.
I completed my education with a Doctorate in Educational Administration from Kansas University, but my educational background did not begin in the field of teaching and learning. My first degree was actually in science and my dream at the age of 20 was to obtain a job designing habitat enclosures in zoos. As luck would have it I landed an internship as a zookeeper right out of college, which meant for no money I had the privilege of learning firsthand what happens to an animal’s food after it has been digested. As exciting as this was, I then went to work for a pet supply catalog company writing and executing customer service training programs right about the time of the internet boom. Somebody mentioned to me how much my job seemed like teaching, and so my journey into the field of education began.
My journey as an educator has provided me with many professional growth opportunities. My professional experiences include five years as a secondary science teacher, National Board Teaching Certification in adolescent science, six years as a High School Principal and five years as a college professor. I also teach graduate education courses at Concordia University and serve as a doctoral dissertation chair for Ashford University.
I currently reside in Wichita, Kansas with my husband, 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son.
